The Best Frauds, Scams, and Big Company Cons in America Today
ARCHIVED ARTICLES -- Past articles and less active issues

EVERYTHING on the Bestfrauds site concerns current active issues that are still not resolved by companies, or are ongoing frauds. When anything seems to be not quite so hot, we send the articles to this archive section. This is in response to a comment by a corporate manager, who said:

"I believe that the BestFraud.com site could become a truly valuable resource for IT administrators & consumers alike [assuming that] the Fraud description pages display dates, and each page have a first reported date & a date stamp for when the page was last updated."

To "date-stamp" everything, as this person suggests, implies that once the articles become 2 months (or 3, or 6, or 10 months -- which figure do you pick?) "outdated", then they are no longer current, and can be ignored.
Nothing could be further from the truth!

Please note that ALL articles on the Bestfrauds site are still VERY CURRENT, and ONGOING, and have NOT been resolved by the companies or organizations causing the frauds or scams. It is MOST important for readers to realize that EVERYTHING in this site is still a major issue, and has NOT been resolved by the Federal or State Governments yet, and probably NEVER WILL BE, unless consumers act to pressure them to DO SOMETHING ABOUT these consumer scams.

As we said at the outset of this page, the Government is either too inept, too disinterested or too "paid off" to fix these scams. Unless the public acts, nothing will be done. And with the Bush Adminstration, you can be doubly sure they'll do everything they can to support big companies scamming you, and do essentially nothing to protect the consumer.

Update on the FTC ! -- The FTC has contacted us! Read what they said!

For years the FTC has been too slow or lax to catch fraudulent marketers quick enough, before the offenders can shift gears and say that "Oh, we never had any part in that."

Now that might be changing. Although there's no proof yet they can move fast enough to catch the offenders red-handed, they are now more responsive, and a lot sharper, than they were.

Read our revealing interview with an FTC representative, only today, about what they are doing.

DECEMBER 2000 FINALE! -- Big Government Fraud of The Decade!

What a way to finish off year 1 of a new Millennium!  Bush made President only by defrauding Americans of their right to elect the President they wanted. Instead, big corporate monopolies, corruption at all government levels, and a prejudiced Supreme Court colluded to rob people of their assumed rights. The truth of this debacle is a must-read for everyone -- especially those who think their votes count toward anything in the U.S.!  Read our coverage of the scam that featured on our site earlier, and follow the links, to realize the stunning depth of this extreme corruption!

Philips New DVD Come-on, to make you buy their products:

Reader Submission:

Recently I purchased a Philips DVD player because the package was labeled:

" '10 Totally Free DVD Movie Rentals'  with the purchase of Philips DVD player."

Once I purchased it and opened the box, there was a coupon inside to get the 10 movies from NetFlix.com. NetFlix refused to honor the coupon. I called Philips Electronics after contacting them on the Internet. They were aware of the fact that NetFlix was not honoring the commitment, and Philips refused to stand behind there marketing practices. (I even wrote to Robt. Minkhorst, who I was told was president of the company).

Bottom line: Philips is using a false claim in order to sell their product, and they know it. When I contacted Philips, all I was asking for was to be able to get 10 free movie rentals (from anybody, I didn't care).

I hope this will stop others from buying this product thinking that they are going to get something that they are not.

(Our Comment: Keep in mind, Philips' strategy worked. The buyer bought the unit over others ONLY because of the free offer -- which turned out to be a scam. Without that free offer, he probably would have bought another brand. See how these deceptions cunningly suck you in, then leave you stuck with the goods? Do they really care if you buy another, now that they've got your money for this one? We can ALL be taken at least once.)
